The Vampire Diaries er baseret på L. J. Smiths bøger. Handlingen minder en del om megasuccesen "Twilight": Heltinden er splittet mellem to vampyr-brødre. Imens Stefan giver efter for Klaus, slås Damon og Elena med skyldfølelsen over deres voksende følelser. Og da den originale vampyrfamilie rejser sig fra deres kister for at afgøre en 1000 år gammel magtkamp, bliver Mystic Falls slagmark for vampyrernes verdenskrig med Elena fanget lige i midten - og midt imellem Damon og Stefan som altid.

All 22 episodes from the third season of the US drama about teenager Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and non-ageing vampire brothers Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder). In this series Stefan and vampire-werewolf Klaus (Joseph Morgan) continue in their attempts to create more hybrids but Klaus soon becomes a danger to Elena and Damon puts himself at risk to save her which brings them closer together.
